The Functions of Engineering Channel Connector

The Engineering Channel Connector provides a connection between two or more cables or wires. It is designed for use in applications requiring maximum electronic protection, such as automotive, aircraft, industrial and marine.

The key to a successful connector design is the ability of a connector to retain the inserts it has been designed to engage, while also providing an insertion force that allows mating connections to be made and withstand repeated insertion and withdrawal cycles without dislocation. It is also important to consider the dimensional requirements of each type of connector, including flange thickness, web thickness, channel length and orientation.


Various testing parameters, such as flange thickness and web thickness, are used to determine the performance of channel shear connectors. The results indicate that the shear capacity of the shear connectors is influenced by their size, strength and strut angle.

A method to predict the shear bond strength of a channel shear connector based on its web height-to-thickness ratio is proposed. The numerical model is able to predict the response of steel-concrete partially composite beams with a channel shear connector in a simplified fiber-based finite element framework. The simulated results agree well with the experimentally obtained responses of the fully composite and partial composite beams.
